Job Description:
Code 9 Security is recruiting for a highly competent and professional Safety and Security Officer to join our Business Protection Team. You will be responsible for protecting our clients' retail and logistics businesses against threats such as shoplifting, internal theft, and fraud, contributing to critical business functions.
Safety and Security Officers are key frontline team members, reporting to a Supervising Business Protection Officer or a Handler in sensitive covert roles. Duties include frontline deployment in retail environments, monitoring surveillance systems, implementing search procedures, and supporting specific assignments.
The ideal candidate will inspire respect and authority, possess professionalism, handle situations calmly and confidently, and make well-reasoned decisions often under pressure.
Responsibilities
* Proactively patrol retail premises, both internally and externally.
* Supervise and facilitate access and egress for employees, contractors, customers, and the public, ensuring compliance with health, safety, accessibility, and loss prevention protocols.
* Challenge suspected offenders and excluded persons.
* Monitor surveillance and alarm systems, responding promptly to threats or alarms.
* Investigate suspicious activities, sharing information with colleagues, HR, management, and police as appropriate.
* Maintain detailed incident records.
* Challenge, detain, arrest suspects, and liaise with police to preserve evidence and file reports.
* Secure all exits, doors, and windows at the end of shifts.
* Assist stakeholders as needed.
Requirements and Skills
* Frontline SIA licence in Security Guarding, Door Supervision, or Close Protection, and CCTV Public Space Surveillance.
* First Aid at Work Qualification.
* Proven experience as a security officer.
* Competence in report writing.
* Ability to work confidently alone or in a team.
