Clinical Support Worker
Applicants are invited for this permanent post based within the Blood Sciences departments at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. The successful applicants will provide a supporting role to the professional clinical laboratory service. The post will primarily be within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratories; however, it may be required to support in other areas when needed.
Responsibilities
* Receive and label specimens and distribute to the relevant department.
* Carry out preparatory procedures on samples.
* Basic operation of laboratory equipment including regular cleaning.
* Input patient details into the lab computing system to a high degree of accuracy.
* Input stock orders into the finance computer system and perform general stock‑keeping duties.
* Handle enquiries from service users and members of the public.
* Carry out transfusion blood stock management.
* Carry out appropriate blood component/product checks.
Qualifications & Skills
Standard grade / National 4/5 in English and a Science subject are required. Previous experience of working in a hospital laboratory is desirable. Candidates should have good keyboard skills, the ability to work accurately under pressure and a flexible approach to work.
Working Hours
The lab operates a 24‑hour service. Standard working hours will primarily be Monday to Friday between 8:45 AM and 9:00 PM; however, this may be adjusted based on service needs and include weekends and out of hours when required.
