Construction Planner / Planning Manager

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Planner / Planning Manager to join a leading building and civil engineering contractor based in Co. Down. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Planner who thrives in commercial construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure projects, and who can take ownership of both tender and live project planning.
Reporting directly to Senior Management, you will play a key role in developing, monitoring, and controlling programmes to ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery across a portfolio of high-value contracts.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and manage tender and contract programmes aligned with client objectives.
* Create and update detailed schedules using Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, or Microsoft Project.
* Establish the optimum construction sequence for project delivery.
* Contribute to methodologies, logistics plans, and written submissions for bids and tenders.
* Support Project Managers with critical path analysis, float management, and risk assessments.
* Implement progress reporting systems, track productivity, and provide accurate updates to senior leadership.
* Assist with pricing preliminaries on tenders, including preparation of temporary works packages.
* Produce progress reports, dashboards, and programme health checks to support decision-making.
Essential Criteria
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a Planning role within commercial construction or civil engineering projects.
* Proven track record of developing, monitoring, and updating programmes on live projects and tenders.
* Strong working knowledge of planning software: Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project.
* Solid understanding of project controls, risk management, critical path, and earned value management.
* Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Skills / Nice to Have
* Experience with BIM tools, Power BI, or reporting dashboards.
* Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
* Background in both building projects (commercial, residential, hotels, leisure) and civil works (infrastructure, utilities, substations).
* Membership of a professional body (APM, CIOB, ICE).

Pay: £50,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
