Applications are invited from suitably experienced Clinical Pharmacists to join the Hospital Pharmacy team as Lead Pharmacist for High Cost Drugs within the Health Service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
This is a newly created post that will impact practice relating to the management of High Cost Drugs across all specialties on the island of Guernsey, in both the Acute/Hospital and Community/Primary Care settings.
You will be part of the Prescribing Support Unit, working alongside the Prescribing Advisor, the Senior PSU Clinical Pharmacist, and the High Cost Drugs Senior Pharmacy Technician, providing oversight and clinical support for the management of high-cost drugs for islanders in the community.
Joining a team of 7 Lead Pharmacists and reporting to the Chief Pharmacist, you will:
1. Be part of the Prescribing Support Unit, collaborating with various pharmacy staff to oversee high-cost drug management.
2. Review current prescribing and dispensing processes for high-cost drugs, aiming to develop and future-proof the service while maximizing savings.
3. Identify the most cost-effective dispensing routes, including on or off-island Homecare or a wholly owned pharmacy subsidiary.
You will liaise with:
* The Chief Pharmacist, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, Prescribing Advisor, Pharmacy Hospital Services Manager, Head and Lead Pharmacy Technicians, and other pharmacy staff.
* Management staff, external agencies, patient groups, pharmaceutical industry representatives.
* Medical, Nursing, and Pharmacy staff in primary and secondary care.
Please note: Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system but has applied its own salary scales. The Band 8A salary range from 1st Jan is £70,723 to £84,752, plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher out-of-hours rates if applicable. Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days, with full credit for NHS service for leave and sick leave.

Person requirements:
* Qualified GPhC-registered Pharmacist.
* At least three years of UK post-registration practice experience.
* Experience in Medicines Optimisation related to High Cost Drugs.
* Strong influencing and communication skills to foster good stakeholder relationships.
* Ability to act on own initiative with appropriate supervision.
