Role Summary

Data is the core of Reward’s business, and the Lead BI Analyst role sits within Reward’s Data & Insight Team, a dynamic and data-rich environment. We work with millions of consumers, analysing billions of purchase payments.

We are seeking a highly intuitive and strategic Lead BI Analyst to join our team. This is not a traditional “data crunching” role, we are looking for a “data storyteller” who applies design‑thinking principles with strong technical acumen to build BI solutions that are accurate, user‑centric, intuitive, and high‑impact. As a Lead, you will champion a user‑first approach to dashboard development, bridging the gap between raw data and strategic business decision‑making.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering commercial, operational, and financial insights that advance Reward’s strategic objectives. You will leverage Power BI and customer‑centred design principles, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to transform complex datasets into high‑quality, compelling visualizations and dashboards. Your work will not only create intuitive and impactful insight products but also guide stakeholders through a clear and engaging insights journey.

Responsibilities

* Team management: You will manage a team of BI analysts and guide them through their technical development as well as their professional growth, ensuring they have the skills, support, and direction needed to excel.
* Data Storytelling & Advocacy: Champion a data-driven culture, presenting complex data findings in simple, actionable narratives and in a compelling and visually engaging manner to a range of stakeholders.
* Mentor analysts within the team and across adjacent teams on dashboard best practices, including design principles, and user interaction standards.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their insight needs and translate them into effective reporting or analytical solutions. This may include running workshops, including design‑thinking sessions, to uncover user requirements and align on the most impactful approach.
* Identify opportunities to improve Power BI performance, scalability, and user adoption
* Perform hands-on analytical work, including database querying, report building, and end-to-end dashboard development in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, visualisation).
* Proactively identify opportunities to leverage Reward’s data to support commercial performance and drive revenue growth.

Requirements

* Power BI expertise: Demonstrable experience in developing dashboards, data models, DAX, and Power BI Service administration including fine tuning.
* Proven experience in designing, building, and packaging data products within a commercial environment.
* At least 10 years of experience working with customer and transactional data to deliver analysis and insights, ideally in sectors such as financial services, loyalty, retail, or telecoms.
* Minimum 2 – 3 years in a team leadership role ideally within a BI function.
* Previous experience in running Design Thinking workshops to uncover user needs.
* Proficiency in SQL for data access and summarisation from relational databases.
* Experience in Python and statistical packages
* Exposure to other analytics tools (desirable), such as Alteryx, Tableau, or AWS solutions (SageMaker, Glue, Athena, Data Lake).
* Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, compelling narratives for stakeholders and clients, using structured storytelling techniques such as the Minto Pyramid Principle
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
* Educated to degree level in a numerate discipline such as applied statistics, data science, engineering, operations research, or economics.
* Experience in managing internal stakeholders and meeting tight deadlines.

The Benefits

* Company holiday: 3 additional days off between Christmas & New Years
* Ability to buy and sell holiday days as well as the ability to bank days (tenure dependant)
* Flexible working options: we are operating a hybrid working model with 3 days a week from the office
* Pension: Hargreaves Lansdown – 6% matched contribution
* Generous family friendly cover
* Income protection
* Critical illness cover
* Life insurance cover
* Optical cover
* Yulife app for access to employee wellbeing and discounts
* Perks at Work, cashback/discount shopping site
* Salary sacrifice program which includes cycle to work scheme, electric car scheme and season ticket loans
* Company events i.e. Christmas party, all-company event and other social/hosted events during the year (we have an active social committee!)
