Overview
Our The Bullring store will be operating night shifts going into peak, and we're looking for a team of brilliant Seasonal Night Stock Assistants, to undertake the responsibility for having the store ready to trade for the next busy day.
Why be a Night Stock Assistant? Daniel and Trevor have worked nights for over 8 years in their store, and here's what they have to say about the role:
* Daniel: In the 10 years I’ve worked with The Entertainer, this year will be my 8th in a row I have volunteered to work on nights. The point of the night shift is to get the shop full and ready for trading – it’s non-stop stock; delivery, remerchandising and filling up. You can spend time getting your sections looking exactly how you want them too, without interruptions from customers or having to serve on the till. You can just put on some music and merchandise, just lose yourself in the work. It’s 37.5 hours minimum each week, which pays more than normal rate when you add on the premium too.
* Trevor: I have been working as a Night Stock Assistant now for 8 years with Daniel. It can be hard work, but it is productive, very rewarding and there is never a dull moment. There is the sense of achievement knowing that at the end of every shift, the shop is full and ready for the day’s trade.
Responsibilities
* Accepting deliveries, moving stock onto the shop floor and racking away overs.
* Replenishing sections from the stockroom and merchandising when needed.
* Pricing, tagging and price sweep compliance.
* Promotional setup and window displays.
* Keeping a clean and tidy working environment.
Benefits and Working Hours
* Nightshift duties include a premium pay (1.25 per hour for hours worked between 11pm and 6am).
* Onboarding on 20 hours a week until the night shift starts, then a 37.5-hour contract guaranteed for the remainder of the contract.
* Boxing Day off even though we are open and trading.
Before You Apply
* You will need to commit to working the entire night shift duration, which varies from 2 to 8 weeks depending on the store.
* Your final night shift will end on the morning of Wednesday 24th December.
* Getting to and from the store safely, at any time, is your responsibility, including outside work hours.
* If you have other paid work or volunteering that could be affected, you may need to reconsider — you will need to ensure you can get plenty of rest between shifts.
* Reliability and flexibility in hours; fast-paced and efficient with a tidy and safe environment; physically fit to move stock; trustworthy and able to communicate well if problems arise.
