Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of our newest food hall, Alfred Works in Digbeth.
This is a highly hands-on role, ideal for a strong hospitality leader who thrives on the floor, leads by example, and plays a key part in delivering smooth operations, exceptional guest experiences, and consistently high standards across a high-volume, multi-vendor venue.
Working closely with the General Manager, you will help oversee daily operations, support team performance, ensure the bar operates to specification, and uphold food, service, and safety standards throughout the venue.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the General Manager in the smooth running of day-to-day operations across the food hall
* Lead shifts on the floor, ensuring exceptional service standards and a welcoming, guest-focused environment
* Act as a key point of contact for food partners and front-of-house teams during service
* Ensure the bar operates to spec, with consistent quality, compliance, and stock control
* Assist with weekly kitchen audits and production checks to maintain food safety and quality standards
* Support stock management, including ordering, stock takes, and waste control
* Ensure full compliance with licensing, legal, and health & safety requirements at all times

People Management
As Assistant Manager, you’ll play a vital role in supporting and developing our teams. You’ll help recruit, onboard, and train staff, lead shifts with confidence, and contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
By leading from the front, you’ll reinforce expectations, support performance management processes, and ensure teams consistently deliver against Blend’s standards and values.
Financial & Operational Support
* Support budget control by managing labour, stock, and operational costs on shift
* Use sales data and operational insight to help drive revenue and efficiency
* Assist the General Manager with reporting, stock accuracy, and cost control initiatives
Requirements
* Proven experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within hospitality
* Experience in high-volume or multi-vendor environments is highly desirable
* Strong people skills with the ability to motivate, support, and guide teams
* Good understanding of food safety standards and regulatory compliance
* Confident leading shifts and maintaining high bar and front-of-house standards
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
* Passion for food, hospitality, and guest experience
* Personal Licence is essential
Skills
* Experience supervising teams in a restaurant, bar, or hospitality setting
* Strong knowledge of food safety, service standards, and operational procedures
* Clear, confident communication with staff, partners, and guests
* Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
* Strong attention to detail and consistency
* Previous exposure to kitchen operations or food production is desirable
