Deputy Director, Finance – NHS England Finance and Planning Directorate
Join the Specialised Commissioning, Health and Justice and Armed Forces, Finance Business Partner team to support NHS funding and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with government to agree NHS funding.
* Ensure the NHS lives within its annual budget.
* Decide how to distribute funding to NHS services across England.
* Support innovative programmes that improve care and experience of NHS patients.
* Set financial and performance priorities for the NHS each year.
* Report NHS spend on annual services.
* Explore optimal use of NHS money, including spend on building or equipment.
* Consider national resource use to improve health outcomes, reduce inequality, and support the NHS.
* Develop and implement effective reporting, planning, and allocation processes.
* Support changes to the financial framework for new operating models.
* Provide high‑quality finance business partner support to commissioning teams for key focus areas.
Required Skills and Experience
* Developing reporting on financial performance to an evolving stakeholder and leadership group.
* Supporting development of financial frameworks including allocation modelling.
* Providing finance business partner commissioning support to teams on high‑priority service areas and programmes.
* Ensuring in‑year financial delivery of commissioning areas.
* Experience in reporting, planning and budgeting within a public sector health organisation.
* Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
