Overview

To deliver mental health awareness sessions to hub and satellite youth clubs as part of the YIF project in Kings Lynn. To promote positive mental health for all children and young people. Further information can be found at - YIF Youth Engagement Worker JD - Mind Matters

Youth-West Partnership Youth-West is a new service which will be delivering weekly open access youth activities for young people aged 11 - 18 years in West Norfolk.


Responsibilities

* Support young people who are taking part in the programme, ensuring their views are respected and listened to.
* Encourage and empower young people to move from the status of recipients towards that of contributors.
* Ensure that young people are treated with respect and dignity, and are empowered to make informed decisions about their own lives.
* Develop the use of and support of volunteers in the Programme. In particular, ensuring that successful young people, who are involved the programme, have the opportunity to become Peer Mentors.
* Work alongside partner agencies.


GOYA Projects

YMCA Norfolk are looking for a Youth Engagement Worker to support their GOYA project at the Breckland Leisure Centre in Thetford. The Youth Engagement Worker will:

* Support young people who are taking part in the programme, ensuring their views are respected and listened to.
* Encourage and empower young people to move from the status of recipients towards that of contributors.
* Ensure that young people are treated with respect and dignity, and are empowered to make informed decisions about their own lives.
* Develop the use of and support of volunteers in the Programme. In particular, ensuring that successful young people, who are involved the programme, have the opportunity to become Peer Mentors.
* Work alongside partner agencies.

The successful candidate will either have significant experience in a personal capacity of contributing as a volunteer or running a Volunteer Programme in a professional capacity. They will have strong engagement skills to work with people from a variety of backgrounds. We would like them to have experience of managing a diverse team and able to develop strong working relationships with colleagues. The successful candidate will have an understanding of Youth Work in a community setting. They will have strong engagement skills to work with young people and adults from a variety of backgrounds as well as experience of youth participation and involvement. We would like them to have time and project management skills and experience of running small group sessions /activities with young people. They will need to be willing to work in the evenings; the GOYA project is on Thursday evenings from 5pm - 7pm.

A proven record of provision of sound advice across a range of parenting related issues. Great interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide range of staff and external contacts. You will be able to demonstrate a clear commitment to excellence in family work delivery. You will be prepared to work unsocial hours, hold a full driving licence and have access to your own transport.
