Job overview
We seek a motivated ward clerk to join the Ophthalmology Team at the Royal Gwent Hospital. You should demonstrate excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and adaptability, with the ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of hospital systems is beneficial but training will be provided. Both English and Welsh speakers are encouraged to apply.
Main duties of the job
* Provide efficient administrative support to ward staff.
* Assist with administrative duties such as managing telephone messages, photocopying case notes, and handling investigations.
* Prepare and file case notes and investigation results.
* Ensure accurate receipt and passing on of case notes.
* Handle deliveries, file reports, and liaise with nursing staff.
* Follow policies and work within standard guidelines.
* Maintain good communication with staff, patients, and relatives, respecting confidentiality.
* Answer telephone inquiries, convey messages, and refer to nursing staff as needed.
* Coordinate with relevant departments.
* Maintain stock levels at the ward station.
