ATG Group is excited to offer a Health and Safety Advisor role based in our head office in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. This diverse role involves collaboration with various business areas.
Our primary business is environmental remediation and waste management, which includes tasks such as small-scale construction, operating plant and machinery, using chemicals, and workplace transport.
We are certified to ISO 14001, 9001, and 45001, so part of the role involves contributing to the Integrated Management System and assisting in the execution of existing policies and procedures.
Some of the duties include:
- Conducting site inspections and project audits to identify areas for improvement.
- Investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective action.
- Creating task-specific risk and COSHH assessments, consulting with workers and managers.
- Reviewing risk assessments and method statements where necessary.
- Ensuring the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) is chosen for tasks.
- Managing facilities, including servicing and maintaining fire alarms, emergency lighting, and firefighting equipment.
- Facilitating quarterly Safety Meetings, highlighting recent incidents, changes to documentation, and providing a consultation space for operations staff.
- Testing existing plans and procedures, making changes to improve efficiency and safety.
- Supporting our charity, Ashes to Gold, with health and safety essentials.
- Conducting equipment inspections.
The ideal candidate would have experience working with management system documentation, a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, and membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM).
Some knowledge of construction and plant safety, as well as experience investigating incidents and near-misses, would be beneficial. If you don’t meet all of these requirements, we encourage you to apply anyway, as we’ll assess each application individually.
During the early stages of employment, you’ll work with a senior consultant who will provide guidance and support. We anticipate this position will have significant growth opportunities and could lead to becoming a Health and Safety Manager, where you’ll provide strategic direction for the company.
