OVERVIEW
The Hardware/Software Integration Engineer is responsible for developing, designing, and planning the integration systems that make Level99 possible. The role involves working on a broad range of applications, including game development, interactive software, back-end infrastructure, and more, for both internal and customer-facing applications. The engineer will handle the hands-on integration of hardware, sensors, and physical interfaces with show control software to meet game design goals.
Engineers identify critical aspects of new challenges and propose solutions considering technical, experiential, and creative needs. They collaborate with project management, creative, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure solutions meet requirements. Responsibilities include creating new applications, participating in code reviews, mentoring team members, reducing technical debt, and staying current with technological advances. The role is hands-on, with responsibilities including managing, prototyping, and implementing solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality web applications with automated tests.
* Create new hardware interaction methods to enhance development and integration of entertainment concepts.
* Lead and assist with installation and integration of electromechanical game systems, including travel and fieldwork.
* Debug complex systems involving hardware, software, sensors, and mechanical components.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration aligned with the product vision.
* Document systems for knowledge sharing and quick onboarding.
* Optimize applications for speed, performance, testability, and usability.
* Keep up with industry trends and best practices.
* Participate in code reviews and mentor team members.
* Develop reusable components and libraries.
* Troubleshoot and address technical issues proactively.
MUST-HAVE SKILLS
* 5+ years experience as a Software Developer with hardware integration.
* Proficiency in Python, preferably Django Rest Framework.
* Experience with Windows and Linux OS.
* Solid understanding of software design principles.
* Experience with automated testing frameworks and methodologies.
* Knowledge of build tools, Git, CI/CD (CircleCI, Ansible).
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience across SDLC phases.
* Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and emergency response.
* Willingness to travel for installation at new venues.
* Ability to read hardware/software documentation.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Self-management skills.
* Positive, energetic attitude.
* Experience with DMX, PLCs, Lidar, Arduino neopixel lighting, RabbitMQ, game lifecycle programming, and RESTful API design.
* Passion and ability to learn quickly in new areas.
