As a Children’s Services Senior Support Worker, your role will involve providing leadership and support to a team of support workers in a children’s services setting. Key Responsibilities
* Leading and supervising a team of support workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support to children and young people.
* Assessing the needs of children and young people and developing individualised care plans.
* Monitoring and documenting the progress and development of children and young people, identifying any concerns or areas for improvement.
* Providing direct care and support to children and young people, including assistance with daily living activities, emotional support, and behavioural management.
* Collaborating with other professionals, such as social workers, psychologists, and educators, to ensure coordinated care and support.
* Participating in case conferences and team meetings to discuss and review the progress of children and young people.
* Advocating for the rights and well‑being of children and young people, promoting their safety, dignity, and inclusion.
* Providing guidance and training to support workers, facilitating their professional development and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
* Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date records and documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
* Promoting a positive and nurturing environment for children and young people, fostering their growth, resilience, and independence.
Qualifications and Skills
* Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role in children’s services.
* Diploma or equivalent in a relevant field, such as Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or Education.
* Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, young people, and their families.
* Knowledge of child development, trauma‑informed care, and relevant legislation and regulations.
* Ability to assess and respond to the individual needs and challenges of children and young people.
* Empathy, compassion, and a genuine interest in the well‑being and development of children and young people.
* First Aid and CPR certification (preferred but training is provided if not obtained).
