Overview
We are looking for a Clinical Patient Safety Officer to provide leadership and expert oversight of patient safety across the organisation. This role focuses on strengthening safety culture, reducing risk, and driving quality improvement for patients and communities served. Location: Bank Top Farm, Leeds. Occasional travel to other OneMedical Group sites and external meetings. Contract: Fixed term 6 months (with potential to extend to 12 months), full-time 40 hours per week over 5 days. Reports to: Associate Director for Patient Safety and Experience.
Responsibilities
* Provide senior oversight of incident and complaint management, ensuring effective escalation, investigation, and resolution.
* Act as the lead contact for coroners\' inquests and manage clinical negligence claims with legal teams, NHS Resolution, and other stakeholders.
* Lead the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the PSIRF and PSIRP.
* Conduct thematic analysis of patient safety intelligence to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
* Produce high-quality reports and presentations for senior leaders and regulators.
* Promote a culture of openness and learning by leading investigations, reviews, and training.
* Support clinical teams in embedding safe practices and reducing patient harm.
* Demonstrate registered healthcare professional status (e.g., NMC, HCPC) and maintain evidence of continuous professional development.
* Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a own vehicle (role requires travel as it is not fully accessible by public transport).
* Experience in managing incidents, serious incidents, complaints, coroners\' inquests, and clinical claims.
* Ability to conduct thematic analysis and produce high-quality reports for senior stakeholders.
* Experience leading investigations and ensuring compliance with statutory/regulatory frameworks.
* Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence senior audiences.
* Skilled in stakeholder management and able to work effectively with clinicians, managers, regulators, and external partners.
* Ability to work under pressure, manage sensitive information, and respond to urgent safety issues.
* Strong leadership and influencing skills to support culture change and embed learning.
Qualifications
* Essential: Registered healthcare professional (e.g., NMC, HCPC).
* Essential: Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in healthcare leadership, risk management, or patient safety.
* Desirable: Significant senior-level experience in patient safety, clinical governance, or risk management.
* Desirable: Knowledge of PSIRF and experience developing and implementing safety frameworks or plans.

This role is based at Bank Top Support Centre, Black Hill Rd, Leeds LS21 1PY. There is no public transport to the head office; own transport is required.
