Measurement Engineer
Full-time Permanent Role
Shift for this role:

* (MON-THU) 6 AM - 2 PM OR (MON-THU) 2 PM to 9:30 PM
* Friday 6 AM to 12 PM or 12 PM to 6 PM

The Measurement Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Rolls-Royce has fit for purpose measurement capability on for our products to meet business, customer and regulatory requirements. you will be responsible for the application and fitting of instrumentation to test vehicles and rigs. This is an exciting opportunity for those looking for a hands-on, non-repetitive role.
The application of instrumentation to engine components is critical to support engine / rig test knowledge.

Instrumentation includes thermocouples, pressure tapping's, metal temps and strain gauges. The instrumentation is applied to test vehicles in order to measure real time engine stresses, vibrations, temperatures and pressures.
The role is predominately based within the Measurement Engineering Laboratory, some tasks will require the candidate to work from Module Build and Test Beds within ET&S Civil Aerospace Engineering Operations.

What you will be doing:

* Marking out and fitting of instrumentation in defined locations to components, modules and engines including securing of cable or tube lead out where required.
* Interpret technical instructions and obtain working information from detail drawings, sketches, design schemes, manuals and engineering standards.
* Carry out manufacture and installation of strain gauges, thermocouples etc.
* Supporting both Engineering Operations Module and Engine build with leading out and repairing damaged instruments when required.
* Development of new or improved application techniques.
* Raising any non-conformance issues within the relevant quality systems.
* Implement effective Risk Management for the solution and apply HSE policy during operations including a commitment to continuous improvement.
* Working to set deadlines to achieve performance targets and programme delivery commitments
* Support graduate programs, giving advice and practical knowledge to improve future development programs.
* The possibility to support projects at other RR sites in the UK and abroad, the opportunity to support flight programs, collaboration projects with other companies.
* Working with a range of measurement specialists and Development engineers to understand and develop practical methods of instrumentation application.
* Support the electronics and telemetry team with practical knowledge and skills to modify and update a variety of test support equipment.

Who we're looking for : Key Experiences and any Qualifications
* Degree level in Engineering or equivalent unless the role is a technician role.
* Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience in using a variety of electrical equipment and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply instructions correctly to achieve required product quality
* Experience in instrumentation application or manufacturing domain is preferred but not essential.
* Good communication, presentation skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
* Candidates must be willing to develop new skills and undertake training to be able to operate in a flexible manner to support the Business needs.
* Knowledge of lean principles and process basics.
* Problem solving skills.
* High attention to detail.
