Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role involves working to tight deadlines, maintaining records, and extensive contact with internal and external stakeholders, including senior academics, health, social care, third sector partners, and representatives from the funding body. The post holder will work independently, demonstrating initiative and innovation as part of a small team.

TEDI Network Plus is funded by the EPSRC to support people living with dementia in maintaining independence. It brings together stakeholders across the North East and North Cumbria (NENC) to co-produce a vision of life with dementia connected by technology. Over three years, our network will identify system gaps, propose solutions, and test technologies to help people with dementia.

We will map the current life course of individuals with dementia in NENC, including interactions with services like hospital admissions, to identify where technology could assist. Projects will involve new teams, including people with dementia and their families, social care, health, charities, and researchers, supported by our design, development, and health experts.

To address inequalities, we will trial local technology hubs within communities where people can get advice, borrow devices, and share their experiences about technology's role in their lives.

Our aim is to increase access to digital support, improve communication across systems, enable earlier interventions, and reduce demands on health and social care services, ultimately enhancing the lives of people with dementia and providing a model for national replication.

Further details are in the job description.

This is a fixed-term role for 36 months starting from 1st September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a DBS check.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The post holder will work closely with Professor Arlene Astell, the TEDI Director, and the TEDI team, including postdoctoral researchers leading the pillars of Inequality, Independence, and Innovation. The role involves supporting the TEDI Network Plus Management Team across the NENC region. The team will operate from a dedicated space on the City Campus in Newcastle upon Tyne.

ABOUT YOU

To succeed, you will have:

* Effective teamwork skills supporting and advancing the project.
* A positive, inclusive leadership style that inspires others.
* Strong planning and organizational skills for research delivery.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
* Experience in developing and managing complex, multi-stakeholder networks.
