An exciting fixed-term temporary opportunity has arisen to join the excellent Inpatient Occupational Therapy service at East Cheshire NHS Trust.

The East Cheshire Occupational Therapy Service delivers care in a variety of settings, including acute hospitals, rehabilitation centres and community clinics.


What we are looking for:

* As part of the restructure of our therapy staffing across the Hospital, we are looking for an enthusiastic and well-rounded HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with experience of working in the NHS or having had extensive placements within the organisation. The post will work with patients on the Care of the Elderly wards.
* The candidate should provide a patient centred approach to care an under pinning sound clinical specialist knowledge in evidence based assessment and management of a variety of conditions.
* It will be essential for the post holder to work autonomously within trust policies and professional practice, in addition to maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records.

Please be aware that unfortunately, this post is not suitable for students expecting results, or those awaiting HCPC registration.


Main duties of the job

As a clinical specialist provide a high standard comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment service to patients on the acute wards with complex presentation, working as an autonomous clinician, using accurate analytical skills and clinical reasoning to interpret assessment findings, making diagnoses where appropriate, identifying patient problems, setting goals, and providing an appropriate treatment plan and progression.

We welcome applications from Graduate visa holders; it is important to note that you must have a minimum of 6 months before this expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

Person specification


Qualifications

* HCPC registration
* Clinical educators training
* Attendance at degree level post graduate courses relevant to the specialist area e.g. communication, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), dementia or working towards this or be prepared to study at this level
* Membership of a relevant professional body


Experience

* Proven post registration experience, some of which is in a relevant setting / associated area.
* Experience of completing and contributing to audit / research.
* Experience of contributing to the teaching and mentoring of staff & members of the MDT (Multidisciplinary Teams)


Skills

* Ability to lead junior colleagues
* Advanced communication and listening skills
* Ability to make appropriate decisions at all levels
* Audit skills
* Ability to prioritise workload, achieving a balance between clinical and other aspects of role
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of team

Knowledge

* Post registration knowledge which is relevant to the specialist area and evidenced by CPD
* Knowledge of recent NHS legislation, recommendations.
