Head of Communications – Maternity Cover
Contract: Fixed-term (12 months, maternity cover)
Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative and experienced Head of Communications to join Beauty SEEN on a maternity cover contract. This senior leadership role will oversee the UK communications teams and client portfolio, ensuring the delivery of best-in-class PR and communications startegies and results across our world-leading beauty brands.
As part of SEEN Group's Senior Leadership Team, the acting Head of Communications will play a pivotal role in shaping client relationships, fostering a collaborative team culture, and driving commercial growth for the Beauty SEEN UK business via strong client retention and incremental project billing. The role requires excellent beauty industry relationships and networking skills, actively contributing to the maintenance and growth of Beauty SEEN's SG Voices network.
The Head of Communications maternity role is part of SEEN Group's Senior Leadership Team, reporting to SEEN Group's Managing Director and working collaboratively with cross-divisional senior peers, including SEEN Works, SEEN BX, Community x SEEN, Beauty SEEN Inc, HR and Finance.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Client:
* Provides role of senior client lead to all of Beauty SEEN's client portfolio, working closely with Beauty SEEN's senior team, both Associate Directors and Group Communciations Director, to maintain strong client health.
* Collaborates closely with the Strategy & Client Experience Director to ensure strategic excellence across all client outputs, while balancing future planning with commercial acumen.
* Actively contributes to the content and quality of client plans and proposals, and actively supports story pitching.
* Demonstrates agility in addressing client needs, and responsiveness to cultural and industry shifts.
* Attends regular clients meetings and key client moments (i.e. events), including monthly senior client stakeholder 1:1s to demonstrate superior client counsel, with SLT team leads (Associate Directors and Group Communications Director) – and at relevant moments in the calendar, client entertaining to deepen understanding and knowledge of clients beyond the 'day-to-day'.
* Through a closeness to clients and respected businesses, identifies and implements opportunities to demonstrate superior value, from the sharing of interesting industry news/insights, through to more creative 'pitching' of ideation and activities, that could benefit client objectives and services within the SEEN Group business.
Team:
* Directly line manages SLT's Associate Directors and Group Communications Director, supporting and nurturing their individual development plans.
* Maintain weekly SLT check-ins - collaborative sessions to successfully ensure beauty SEEN meets financial targets, effectively supports live client briefs and/or troubleshooting team issues.
* Support and coach SLT in delivering solid, strategic client counsel, building healthy relationships with pillar clients.
* Actively 'check-in' on total Beauty SEEN team health with a focus on maintaining job satisfication, a positive working environment and desirable work culture.
* Continuously reviews team resource and skill sets to effectively manage client workload, give team members skills matched opportunities and structure.
* Actively supports and reviews the quality of all Beauty SEEN's work to ensure an excellent standard is maintained across client counsel, reporting, presentations and networking.
* Supports effective collaboration between Beauty SEEN and other divisions and teams, to enable effective x-agency working to benefit strategic ouputs, client growth and IMC practice.
Industry:
* Actively attends/enrolls in PR, media & beauty orientated events, networks, workshops, appointments to interact and network with attendees, inspiring Beauty SEEN team with insights to benefit client work and seeking out new business opportunities.
* Actively builds relationships with key industry figures, focusing on senior media relationships and identifying gaps in Beauty SEEN's network to form new relationships and inspire strategic relationship building amongst the Beauty SEEN team.
* Actively maintains and strengthens relationships with key beauty retailers and organisations, in support of positive value to the clients and new business opportunities.
Business:
Leads commercial target for Beauty SEEN, ensuring financial processes are adhered to by both client and Beauty SEEN team. Retainer renewels, house client incremental billing and new business generation.
