<div><h3>Job Overview</h3><p>THIS IS A 2 YEAR FIXED TERM TRAINING POST DUE TO FUNDING. This role offers a pathway into the NHS Audiology career as an Associate Practitioner. It is suitable for science graduates or those interested in applying science in a direct healthcare role. Posts are based at Wrexham, Bodelwyddan, Welshpool and Bangor. Candidates will complete a Certificate of Higher Education in Basic Audiological Practice with block release at Swansea University, while the majority of training is delivered in the clinical setting. The role focuses on caring for adult patients at the base hospital, with career progression opportunities in Wales.</p><h3>Main Duties of the Job</h3><ul><li>Perform hearing assessments and develop individual care/management plans for patients with hearing loss.</li><li>Demonstrate clinical judgement on presenting facts or scenarios, selecting management options.</li><li>Provide clinical supervision and mentoring as part of training.</li><li>Use scientific and analytical skills to support audit and development activities within the service.</li><li>Complete an 18‑month Audiology course and associated in‑post training programme covering routine/non‑complex hearing pathologies for all ages, with a focus on hearing testing, fitting hearing aids and adult rehabilitation.</li><li>Work closely with the training coordinator/officer and senior staff.</li><li>Attend to patient needs and maintain accurate clinical records.</li></ul><h3>Person Specification</h3><p><b>Essential Criteria</b></p><ul><li>2 A level science qualifications or equivalent, and scientific knowledge at least at foundation degree or equivalent level.</li><li>Ability to absorb and apply new information.</li><li>Applied scientific projects, gathering data, analysis and report production.</li><li>Ability to communicate with hearing impaired people of all ages and their families.</li><li>Digitally literate.</li><li>Able to use computer and telephone.</li><li>Clear speech to enable communication with hearing impaired people.</li><li>Flexible approach to work, ability to prioritise tasks and workload, empathy.</li><li>Able to travel between clinic sites.</li></ul><p><b>Desirable Criteria</b></p><ul><li>Evidence of scientific experience (degree or equivalent evidence of scientific/academic capability).</li><li>Experience in a customer‑focussed environment and dealing with people.</li><li>Experience caring for others.</li><li>Deaf aware.</li><li>Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.</li><li>Desire to speak Welsh (Welsh and/or English speakers welcome).</li></ul><p><b>Additional Information</b></p><ul><li>Successful applicants will be expected to apply for posts in Audiology services within Wales at the end of the 2‑year fixed‑term post.</li><li>Further information about Audiology and the training scheme is available in the accompanying document.</li></ul></div>
