Role and duties
The Role
We’re seeking a Learning Support Assistant (SEN) to join Northfield Primary School. As a Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant, you will support students learning and attend to pupils’ personal needs, to support teaching and learning in the classroom and across the school.
To be successful, you should have experience of working with or caring for children or young people of a relevant age. You must be able to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with young people and adults.
Key duties
* Working collaboratively with teaching staff and other support staff to enhance the development and education of pupils.
* Supporting the needs of individual pupils, or small groups, as directed by teaching staff.
* Being directed to meet the specific needs of individual pupils, in line with their statement of Special Educational Needs.
* Monitoring the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking their work to ensure a constructive environment and handling situations according to school policies and procedures.
The role is 33 hours per week, term time plus two days, permanent contract, equating to 192 working days per annum.

Qualifications
* Level 2 Numeracy/Literacy Qualifications Grace C/4 and higher or equivalent grades/qualifications
* 4 or more GCSEs at grade 4/C or higher (or equivalent grades/qualifications)
* Qualifications in supporting pupils in a school setting (Level 2 or 3)
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues
* Understanding the purpose and role of learning support
