 
        
        Overview
Principal Pipeline Engineer (Energy) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland. Location is flexible across our UK office network.
Responsibilities
 * Lead the development of mechanical designs on a wide range of transmission projects, including natural gas at below and above 7 bar, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, LNG terminals, and biogas.
 * Work on projects within the wider energy portfolio, including conventional power plants, energy-from-waste plants, industrial facilities and carbon capture schemes.
 * Deliver concept, FEED and detail design work and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team in a client-focused environment.
 * Develop pipelines deliverables and above-ground installations (AGI) such as wall thickness calculations and piping specifications; undertake pipeline routing and population studies.
 * Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and support development of layouts and 3D models; contribute to proposals and bids for piping and layout disciplines.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
 * A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject.
 * Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
 * Work experience within the gas industry.
 * Ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of pipeline and AGI engineering deliverables.
 * Knowledge of national and international codes and standards for design and manufacturing requirements of plant equipment and piping.
 * Experience of carrying out pipeline and AGI design and working in a multi-discipline team on plant 3D models.
 * Understanding of the design process and ability to produce calculations and brief/scope documents.
 * Experience of operational and integrity issue troubleshooting and problem solving.
 * Familiarity with Autodesk products (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, BIM360) and proficiency in MS Office for reports, specifications and calculations.
 * Experience of working with clients and contractors with diverse objectives to achieve technical solutions.
