Job Title: Patient Appliance Administrative Support
To work under the direction of the Patient Appliance Service Manager to undertake a wide range of duties, including clerical, administrative, and appliance issuing as part of the patient's overall clinical management.
The Patient Appliance Service aims to provide suitable orthoses for individuals with a permanent condition that impairs their ability to walk. The service offers comprehensive care considering comfort, posture, function, and pressure relief. Patients are assessed for upper limb, spinal, lower limb, and foot orthotics. Referrals are accepted from patients aged 18 and above residing in the London Borough of Newham or having a GP in the borough.
Our clinicians rely on efficient administration systems, including accurate data collection, reporting, and management of electronic administrative systems.
Job Purpose
To provide effective and efficient administrative support to the Patient Appliance Team (PAT) and assist therapy teams with administrative tasks. The post holder should be capable of working in a busy, demanding environment without direct supervision, exercising initiative, and demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone etiquette.
Responsibilities include supervising and supporting patient care in a clinical environment under the guidance of trained therapy staff, working independently or with team members to deliver patient appliances, and collaborating with physiotherapy and podiatry services to support service delivery, which may include supervising patients in classes or supporting individual clinicians.
