Due to the increasing workload, East Sussex County Council, IT & Digital Project Delivery Team have 12 and 18-month fixed term project management vacancies, where the opportunity for a full time, part time, or term time contract will be considered.
As a project manager, you can make a real difference in delivering changes within the IT environment that support the council in the ways we work.
We are looking for an experienced project manager, who will be responsible for the delivery of a IT service management system, deliver several concurrent IT projects to support major IT related change initiatives across the Authority, or using internal staff, contractors, and third-party suppliers.
Working with Heads of Services, Business Partners, and other key stakeholders, you will develop and agree the project brief, PID, and resource plans, while being responsible for the day-to-day management of projects, ensuring its completion to agreed cost, time and quality criteria.
We are looking for project managers who:
1. Are experienced in MSP / PRINCE II project management.
2. Understand the need for good project processes and governance.
3. May have had exposure to agile project delivery.
4. Able to manage large project budgets.
5. Able to successfully manage virtual project teams.
6. Have good communication, engagement, and organisational skills.
7. And present a credibility to the post.
The post requires strong influencing skills and the ability to bring together project sponsors (usually senior managers), expert advisers, external consultants, contractors, and end users together to form an effective team focused on delivery of the project.
East Sussex County Council, Brighton & Hove City Council, and Surrey County Council collaborate on several business services and therefore the successful post-holder needs to be flexible in terms of working across these organisations as project demands arise.
