Senior / Principal Stress Engineer - Nuclear, Derby
Are you a Mechanical Engineer with a background in finite element analysis who thrives on solving difficult problems? Are you interested in complex analysis projects and eager to move into leadership roles, heading projects and guiding junior engineers?

Your work could involve extending the life of existing reactors, demonstrating the integrity of new build stations, assessing fusion system components, supporting the UK Submarine and SMR programmes, or enabling renewable energy projects within a growing carbon net zero portfolio. This role requires juggling multiple projects, so adaptability is essential. The constant is the complex nature of the work and the opportunity to provide innovative solutions to a range of problems for appreciative clients.
In this role, you'll develop engineering solutions to some of the industry's most challenging problems, making a significant contribution to energy and environmental security in the UK and beyond.

Role requirements:
* Degree qualified mechanical engineer (or relevant qualification)
* Experience in delivering complex stress analyses or structural integrity assessments (thermal-mechanical, fracture, fatigue, creep, impact)
* Experience in writing detailed, accurate technical reports (assessment reports, basis of analysis, safety case references)
* Ability to engage with clients, work at their sites, and understand their issues, goals, and processes
Preferred experience (but not mandatory):
* Working or authoring bids in safety-critical, regulated environments
* Experience with relevant codes such as ASME III, RCC-M, BS7910, R3, R5, R6
* Experience with workflow automation, ideally using Python
* Chartered status or nearing chartership with a relevant professional institute
