Are you an experienced Senior Environment Designer looking to shape an ambitious new project?
A multi-award-winning game developer is seeking a skilled Senior Designer (Environments) to join their team on a long-term contract, running until January 2027. This role offers a rare opportunity to play a key part in crafting immersive, engaging environments while working in a newly refurbished studio.
What You'll Do:
* Design & Build Playable Environments: Develop rich, interactive worlds that seamlessly integrate contributions from multiple teams.
* Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with art, systems, and narrative teams to ensure environments enhance both gameplay and storytelling.
* Create Engaging Content: Design and implement gameplay elements that leverage game modes and mechanics to enhance player immersion.
* Balance & Refine Features: Ensure environments support compelling gameplay experiences that resonate with players.
* Optimise Pipelines & Processes: Establish efficient workflows for delivering high-quality game environments.
* Iterate & Improve: Playtest environments, gather feedback, and refine designs to enhance player satisfaction.
* Document Design Workflows: Produce clear and detailed design documentation to support development.
What You'll Need:
* Industry Experience: Extensive experience in 3D level or open-world design, with at least one shipped title.
* Prototyping & Polish Skills: Ability to conceptualise, prototype, and refine gameplay mechanics.
* Strong Gameplay Understanding: A deep grasp of what makes a game world fun, immersive, and engaging.
* Technical Knowledge: Experience working with game design tools and understanding feature design.
* Attention to Detail: Ability to develop high-quality, player-driven experiences.
* Collaboration & Communication: Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to take and implement feedback effectively.
* Autonomous Work Ethic: Able to work independently while thriving in a team environment.
* Iterative Development Mindset: Experience refining content based on testing and feedback.
