Overview

We are looking for a Technical Lead to anchor a squad of engineers for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality software and driving engineering excellence within the esure Group.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead, manage and coach a squad of developers, QA engineers, and architects.
* Drive technical strategy, architecture evolution, and code quality improvements.
* Collaborate with Product Owners to maintain a clear mission, healthy backlog, and Agile practices.
* Advise on new technology choices and ensure adherence to CI/CD, testing and deployment pipelines.
* Act as a senior contributor within the esure engineering community and share knowledge.


Qualifications

* Deep passion for technology and a customer‑centric mindset.
* Hands‑on Java expertise; Spring Boot experience is essential.
* Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, and ideally Kubernetes.
* Cloud platform experience, preferably AWS.
* Design and develop distributed, scalable, and highly available systems.
* Advocacy of Agile practices: Scrum, Kanban, TDD, BDD, continuous delivery.
* Proven people‑management skills and a history of coaching teams in an agile environment.


Interview Process

1. Introductory call with a Talent Partner.
2. 1‑hour interview with the Head of Technology.
3. 1‑hour interview with two Technical Leads, including a technical task.
4. 30‑minute meeting with members of an Agile Squad (Product Owner & Delivery Manager).
5. Final meeting with the Head of Technology and the Chief Technology Officer.
