Salary: Up to £40,831.30 per annum (inclusive of sleep-in shifts and on-call payments)
Specific Hours: 39 hours per week
Accountable to: Registered Manager and to the Responsible Individuals and Operational Directors

Your Role
As our Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Registered Manager with the daily operations of our established 4-bed home in Barnsley. Your mission? To ensure high-quality care and promote the rights, wellbeing, and individual needs of each young person in line with our organizational policies.
Main Responsibilities
* Service and Practice Management:
o Ensure high-quality care in compliance with legislation, safeguarding requirements, and organizational policies.
o Maintain Health and Safety standards and ensure staff are well-trained.
o Support accurate record-keeping and contribute to quality assurance systems.
o Promote effective childcare practices and continuous improvement.
o Prepare for and chair meetings alongside the Registered Manager.
o Participate in the on-call rota and provide sleep-in cover as needed.
o Produce evaluative reports and oversee documentation to meet regulatory standards.
o Make operational decisions in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Human Resource Management:
o Support recruitment and ensure all safer recruitment checks are completed.
o Assist in staff induction, supervision, and appraisal processes.
o Facilitate staff development through mandatory training and CPD.
o Maintain effective rotas and oversee staff expenses.
o Conduct investigations into complaints and disciplinary matters.
* Resource Management & External Relations:
o Monitor budgets and financial processes to ensure effective resource use.
o Report maintenance issues to keep both homes safe and compliant.
o Represent the organization positively in all external contacts.
o Liaise with commissioners regarding placements and admissions.
What We’re Looking For
* Commitment to delivering high-quality care and education.
* Experience in leading or managing a team.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
* Level 3 Children & Young People qualification (minimum).
* Level 5 Leadership & Management, or willingness to complete.
* Understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people.
* Safe working practices and professional boundaries.
* Ability to build effective relationships with young people and colleagues.
* Emotional resilience when working with challenging behavior.

* Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
