We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor / Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team on a permanent, full-time, term-time only basis starting January 2026. This role is ideal for a confident, reliable and resilient professional with strong behaviour management skills and experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Role Overview: Behaviour Mentor/ SEMH Teaching Assistant
As a key member of our inclusion team, you will:
1. Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
2. Support pupils to regulate their behaviour, build resilience and engage fully in learning
3. Implement behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies
4. Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff
5. Maintain a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
6. Encourage independence, emotional development and social skills
Person Specification: Behaviour Mentor/ SEMH Teaching Assistant
We are looking for candidates who:
7. Have proven experience in UK schools, ideally supporting SEMH pupils
8. Have strong and consistent behaviour management skills
9. Are calm, firm, and empathetic when working with challenging behaviours
10. Are reliable, professional and committed to making a positive difference
11. Can build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and colleagues
12. Hold an enhanced DBS (or are willing to obtain one)
