Retail Relief Security Officer
Guildford/Reading/surrounding areas – Co‑op Food stores. MUST DRIVE AND HAVE ACCESS TO OWN TRANSPORT.
£13.45 per hour – higher pay when covering elite officer position.
Job Overview
Protect customers’ property, people, and assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI) and subsequent changes. Deliver results that meet or exceed the key performance indicators and Service Level Agreement for the customer, taking full responsibility and accountability for maintaining the contract. Undertake additional training to ensure continuous self‑development.
Responsibilities
Operations
* Ensure compliance with all policies, UK law and guidance bodies as directed by the Security Account Manager.
* Fully and satisfactorily complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions.
* Proactively review the Assignment Instructions, suggesting amendments to improve service levels.
* Be compliant with industry and statutory legislation, including holding a front‑line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision and the required CCTV PSS SIA Licence; renew licence 16 weeks before expiry.
* Adhere to legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.
* Follow instructions and procedures without unnecessarily challenging authority.
* Work systematically, methodically, and orderly.
Training
* Complete all required competency training satisfactorily.
* Undergo additional training directed by the Security Account Manager to ensure continuous self‑development.
* Utilise technology to achieve key work objectives and expand job knowledge through continual professional development.
Security and Health & Safety
* Immediately report Health & Safety hazards or potential hazards on site.
* Stay alert to threats or changes within the work environment and take appropriate action to reduce disruption, loss or damage.
* Use common sense and initiative; involve others if a situation becomes threatening.
* Maintain professional conduct when faced with difficult situations or challenging customers.
* Record accurate, detailed notebook entries promptly after any incident for the Incident Report process.
* Adhere to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
* Ensure check calls are carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions.
* Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.
Requirements
* Previous security experience.
* Current SIA licence.
* SC clearance desirable.
* Must drive and have access to own transport.
