A growing, ambitious housebuilder in Chelmsford is looking for a hands‑on Financial Controller to bring rigour, pace and commercial insight to a busy finance function.
If you enjoy building strong processes, partnering with ops, and helping a business scale — this is one with real influence and visibility.
What you’ll be doing
* Owning the month‑end close, management accounts and board reporting
* Leading budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning
* Strengthening financial controls, processes and reporting cadence
* Partnering with construction and commercial teams to drive performance
* Overseeing audit, statutory accounts, VAT/CIS and compliance
* Developing and mentoring the team as the business grows
What we’re looking for
* Strong technical grounding + commercial mindset
* Experience in housebuilding / construction / property / projects (ideal)
* Confident stakeholder management — you can challenge constructively
* Comfortable improving systems, controls and ways of working
