Role Overview:
Responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and in promoting sustainability initiatives across the organization.
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Health and Safety:
* A professional business appearance is required at all times. Attire should reflect the company's standards and be appropriate for client interactions and a professional workplace setting.
* Bring a high level of energy, initiative, and enthusiasm for their work.
* You will be accountable for Health and Safety standards and performance in the northern region.
* Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with current legislation and industry best practice in coordination with the Southern Health & Safety Manager
* Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of all northern operational facilities and sites to identify potential hazards and ensure effective control measures are in place.
* Ensure the process of competence assessment of both operatives and subcontractors in undertaken, reviewed and maintained. Compliance matrices to form part of monthly director reporting.
* Assist the Southern Health & Safety Manager in maintaining the memberships of all Safety Schemes in Procurement.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Deliver training and awareness programs to employees on health and safety practices and emergency procedures.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely reporting and compliance with statutory requirements.
* Prepare & present detailed reports on H&S performance metrics to senior management on a monthly basis.
* Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging regulations, and best practice in Health & Safety governance.
* Oversee daily building operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
* Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs.
* Coordinate repairs and renovations.
* Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of buildings and grounds.
* Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with service providers.
* Monitor vendor performance and compliance.
* Review service agreements and ensure cost efficiency.
* Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
* Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments.
* Lead emergency preparedness planning and drills.
* Maintain safety documentation and compliance records.
* Develop and manage facilities budgets.
* Monitor expenditures and control costs.
* Prepare financial and operational reports.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Plan space allocation and office layouts.
* Maintain asset inventory and lifecycle management.
* Support office relocations or expansions.
Environmental Management:
* Working alongside the Southern health & Safety Manager, develop and implement environmental policies and procedures in line with ISO 14001 standards.
* Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits to ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
* Monitor and report on environmental performance, including waste management, energy consumption, and resource efficiency.
* Promote awareness and training on environmental issues and sustainability practices among employees.
Sustainability Governance:
* Working alongside the Southern Health & Safety Manager, develop and implement sustainability strategies and initiatives that align with the company's values and goals.
* Collaborate with various departments to integrate sustainability into business operations and decision-making processes.
* Shift pattern: 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday
* Car allowance
Skills:
* In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, and sustainability practices.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and health and safety management software.
