Job Description
A leading 5-star national house builder is seeking an experienced Town Planning Manager to join their successful and growing team based in Milton Keynes. The role will provide planning expertise across key developments throughout the Northern Home Counties, supporting the delivery of high-quality residential schemes from inception to completion.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Land Director, the Town Planning Manager will play a critical role in managing planning applications and strategic land promotion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for progressing sites through the planning system efficiently and effectively, ensuring that planning consents are secured in line with company objectives and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the submission and progress of planning applications across the region
* Lead on pre-application discussions and stakeholder engagement with local authorities
* Oversee planning appeals, committee meetings, and public consultations
* Collaborate closely with land, technical, design, and legal teams to support planning strategies
* Advise internal teams on planning risks, policies, and legislation
* Monitor Local Plans and promote strategic land interests through the plan-making process
* Support the acquisition of new land opportunities from a planning perspective
* Ensure all planning-related documents and reports are accurate, timely, and compliant
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Degree-qualified in Town Planning or a related field, with MRTPI status
* Significant experience in residential planning, ideally with a housebuilder or consultancy
* In-depth understanding of the UK planning system and development process
* Proven ability to manage complex planning applications and appeals
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
* Strong project management abilities with a solution-driven mindset
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Knowledge of the Northern Home Counties planning landscape is highly desirable
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region
