We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Geomatics Analyst to join our team. You will work as part of a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes, using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from remote sensing instrumentation including Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
Responsibilities
* Process and quality control survey data to support National Elevation Data Programmes.
* Operate and apply GIS and remote sensing tools to data, ensuring high data quality and accuracy.
* Collaborate with the Geomatics team and broader National Monitoring Survey to enable effective evidence across the business.
* Support incident response duties in addition to day-to-day responsibilities where required, with day-to-day support provided for the role to develop skills and widen experience.
* Be flexible with working patterns and travel to EA offices or hubs as needed to meet team needs and to connect with colleagues.
* Participate in interviews and assessments as part of the selection process.
Experience/Skills Required
* A relevant degree-level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* Practical GIS experience using ESRI products (e.g., ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap) and experience working with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably including Airborne LIDAR.
* Experience with processing and quality control of LiDAR datasets and LiDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models is advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical/problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail, either from work or academic experience.
* Good organisational skills, motivation, professionalism, and ability to communicate effectively; ability to work unsupervised to meet deadlines.
Additional Information
* The National Monitoring Survey team is national and located at various sites; you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office.
* Travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath may be required; in addition, attendance at EA offices may be needed to support team needs.
* The post is full-time, with flexible working patterns considered.
* Interviews will be conducted in person at the Bath office and will include a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
