Contract Service Designer

About the Role
WRK digital are proud to partner with a leading consultancy delivering high-impact projects for the NHS. We are seeking an experienced Service Designer to join the team on an inside IR35 contract. This role will focus on designing and improving services that make a real difference to healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. You could be working one of 3 national level projects that are at a mix of pre-discovery, discivery & BETA stages.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research and understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points through qualitative and quantitative methods.
2. Map and analyse end-to-end service journeys, ecosystems, and touchpoints.
3. Co-design services with users, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
4. Translate insights into service concepts, blueprints, and prototypes.
5. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, usability, and customer satisfaction.
6. Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, developers, and business stakeholders.
7. Test, iterate, and refine service solutions based on feedback and data.
8. Support implementation of service designs and ensure alignment with the original intent.
9. Document service standards, principles, and design decisions.
Required Skills & Experience
10. Proven experience as a Service Designer in complex, user-centred environments.
11. Strong knowledge of service design methodologies and tools.
12. Experience working on public sector or healthcare projects is highly desirable.
13. Ability to communicate design concepts clearly and influence stakeholders.
14. Familiarity with GDS (Government Digital Service) standards and accessibility principles.
15. Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
16. Experience with prototyping and design tools (e.g., Figma, Miro).
17. Understanding of policy and regulatory considerations in service design.
18. Background in research and data-driven design approaches.
