Job Purpose
To fabricate and weld various STATS tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner while ensuring that a quality product is produced at all times.
Reports To
* Manufacturing Supervisor
External Relationships
* QC Inspectors, Machinists, Clients
Main Responsibilities
* Fabricate and weld complete tools/equipment to standards set by STATS and its customers.
* Maintain high standards of quality for STATS products and services.
* Work safely at all times to protect colleagues, clients, and visitors.
* Move materials/equipment within the shop area.
* Report any defects to materials, components, or equipment to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
* Ensure all drawings, procedures, and instructions are up-to-date before work begins.
* Assist in proposing and implementing new fabrication/welding techniques to improve productivity or safety.
* Assist in training apprentices if required.
* Liaise with the Manufacturing Supervisor regarding any issues.
* Report environmental, health, and safety issues.
* Adhere to STATS standards and procedures at all times.
* Perform any other duties assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor.
* Assist in creating risk assessments as needed.
* Coordinate with the supervisor on material, customer, or project issues.
* Contribute to the proposal and implementation of new safety equipment.
* Maintain sufficient material and stock levels in the store.
* Maintain material certification and traceability.
* Ensure all inspection and gauge equipment are calibrated and current.
* Support other departments as required.

* Comply with STATS and client quality, safety, and environmental management systems and procedures.
* Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and hazards immediately.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge
* Ability to work in a small, focused team meeting high standards and client deadlines.
* Flexibility to work shifts when required.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Proficient use of fabrication and welding equipment and testing tools safely.
* Ability to operate inspection equipment.
* Knowledge of various fabrication and welding methods.
* Planning skills for fabrication and welding processes.
* Effective use of lifting equipment.
* Understanding of environmental health and safety standards.
* Competency in engineering terminology and welding techniques, including TIG, sub-arc, FCAW, and profile burning (training provided).
Qualifications
* Mechanical trade qualification with a broad understanding of fabrication and welding techniques.
* Experience in TIG, sub-arc, FCAW, and profile burning is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
* Ability to weld to a 6G standard; training will be provided.

* Ability to work independently.
* Positive and proactive attitude.
