The Opportunity
They are seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join the UK Estimation Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone already working within an M&E contractor environment who wants to apply their skills across a diverse portfolio of building services and fit-out projects.
In this role, you will be central to preparing accurate, competitive bids, working closely with procurement, project teams, and senior leadership to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Analyse tender opportunities, assess risks, and provide clear recommendations to management.
2. Review tender documentation and fully understand client requirements.
3. Quantify mechanical plant, equipment, and labour requirements accurately.
4. Prepare tender adjudication packs, risk assessments, and contractor proposals.
5. Build competitive labour rates, factoring in productivity, resources, and gang mix.
6. Develop compliant cost plans and explore value-engineered solutions.
7. Liaise with procurement to vet supplier and subcontractor submissions.
8. Collaborate with electrical estimators to deliver complete M&E bids.
9. Maintain a database of submitted bids and track outcomes.
10. Report regularly to management on estimating workload and pipeline.
About You
11. Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.
12. Minimum 3 years’ estimating experience within an M&E contractor (essential).
13. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems in building services and fit-out projects.
14. Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
15. Confident communicator with strong stakeholder and supplier engagement skills.
16. Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
