Counsellor (B6/B7 Development Role)

We would like to hear from you if you can demonstrate your commitment to providing high quality care and counselling for depression at Step 3. You will be delivering counselling for depression using a stepped care model aligned with the national IAPT programme and the latest NICE guidance for psychological interventions. The role involves one‑to‑one counselling, assessments and therapeutic groups.
Development Plan
* Start at band 6
* Maximum of 24 months to complete PCE‑CfD training
* Successful completion of PCE‑CfD training will lead to band 7

Main Duties
Provide comprehensive assessment and therapeutic services for adult patients with common mental health problems referred to the IAPT SABP service based on sound, evidence‑based psychological principles, and working within the context of primary care services.
Assess clients for suitability for counselling and other modalities, and provide specialist psychological treatment based on N.I.C.E. guidelines for depression. Treat common mental health problems, including mood and adjustment disorders, that do not require multidisciplinary specialist mental health services.
Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department's referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary. Assess risk for patient and others and take appropriate action when necessary.
Job Responsibilities
Work two evenings a week or Saturdays and offer two days of face‑to‑face clinic based in Redhill or Leatherhead.
Qualifications
* Completion of BACP Accredited Counselling Qualification Level 4 & Above
* Full BACP Accreditation or UKCP Full Registration, or fully accredited professional registration (e.g., NCS, ACC)
Experience
* Minimum 450 client hours with proof of clinical supervision for all hours
* Experience working in IAPT, with agreed targets for contacts and clinical outcomes
* Experience working with diverse communities within a multicultural setting

£38,682 to £54,710 a year, plus 5% Fringe HCAS, pro‑rata.
