This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated School Business Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our school. This is a key strategic post, supporting the Headteacher in delivering our vision and ensuring the smooth and effective running of all non-teaching operations.
Located in the heart of Wantage, Fitzwaryn School is highly regarded as an outstanding provision for educating children and young people aged 3-19 with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound & multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and autism (ASD). About the Role
- Lead all non-teaching operations across finance, HR, administration, premises, health & safety, ICT, procurement, and compliance.
- Manage HR processes including recruitment, induction, appraisal, absence, payroll administration, and staff wellbeing.
- Lead and develop the school office and administrative systems, ensuring strong communication and GDPR compliance.
- Provide expert advice to the Headteacher and Governing Body on financial, resource and business matters.
- Support budget setting, financial monitoring, audit compliance and reconciliation processes.
- Prepare reports for the Governing Body, Ofsted, Local Authority and other stakeholders.
- Lead on risk management and business continuity planning.
What We're Looking For
- Professional qualification in business management or equivalent experience.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. CIPD, NEBOSH) (Desirable)
- Knowledge of education sector regulations and safeguarding requirements (Desirable)
- Strong leadership and staff management skills.
- Knowledge of HR processes, employment law and staff development.
- Experience in premises, health & safety, and risk management.
- Understanding of financial processes, including budgeting, payroll and procurement.
- Excellent communication, organisational and ICT skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
- Financial management experience. (Desirable)
