We are seeking a Survey Manager or Lead Surveyor to join our teams in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or London.
About the Role
This role is key in developing a new service line (Measured Digital Surveys) for Thomas & Adamson. It offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated surveying professional to lead this initiative.
Job Overview
We seek a skilled Lead Surveyor to establish and lead a new department focused on advanced survey technologies, including laser surveys, point cloud surveys, drone-measured surveys, and time-lapse surveys. The candidate should have a strong surveying background, with experience in business development, proposal writing, and contract management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Department Development:
o Establish and grow the new survey department.
o Develop strategic plans and oversee equipment acquisition and maintenance.
2. Survey Operations:
o Manage and execute various advanced surveys.
o Ensure high standards of accuracy and quality, delivering outputs to LOD 200–500.
o Analyze survey data to produce reports and deliverables.
3. Business Development and Proposal/Bid Writing:
o Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
o Collaborate internally for cross-selling opportunities.
o Prepare proposals and bids, and assist marketing efforts.
4. Contract Management:
o Negotiate and manage client and supplier contracts.
o Ensure compliance and monitor budgets and timelines.
o Recruit, train, and mentor staff, fostering a positive environment.
What We Need From You
* Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field.
* Professional certification (e.g., RICS, PLS) preferred.
* At least 5 years’ experience in surveying, especially laser and drone surveys.
* Experience in business development, proposal writing, and contract management.
* Strong technical skills with survey software and equipment.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
