LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a leading insurance organisation to recruit a Senior Group Financial & Regulatory Reporting Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in external financial reporting with a strong focus on IFRS 17. As a key figure in the finance function, you will lead the month-end close process, produce quarterly financial results, and offer expert advice on technical accounting matters. You will also drive transformational change across group accounting and reporting, impacting both operational processes and strategic direction. Key Responsibilities: Audit Management: Take full ownership of the external audit process by coordinating with auditors, ensuring all audit requirements are met accurately and on time, and addressing any queries or issues promptly to facilitate a smooth audit cycle. Technical Accounting Expertise: Act as the go-to expert on IFRS 17 accounting standards, providing clear, practical advice to stakeholders across the business. Support the finance team and other departments in understanding and applying complex accounting principles correctly. Financial Reporting: Lead the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accurately captured and reconciled. Prepare comprehensive quarterly financial results, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards, and present findings to senior leadership. Board and Audit Committee Reporting: Prepare detailed and insightful reports for the audit committee and the board of directors, highlighting key financial results, risks, and compliance matters, to support informed decision-making at the highest levels. Financial Controls and Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial control frameworks to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial and regulatory reporting. Regularly review processes to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Project Leadership: Lead and deliver complex technical accounting projects, including drafting detailed accounting memos and policy documents. Manage timelines, stakeholder communication, and ensure projects align with strategic financial reporting objectives. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various internal teams such as finance, actuarial, risk, and compliance to ensure alignment and consistency in financial reporting. Provide training and support on technical accounting matters to enhance overall team capability. Transformation and Continuous Improvement: Drive transformational initiatives aimed at improving accounting and reporting processes. Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, implement automation where possible, and lead change management activities to embed new ways of working. Key Requirements: Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) Strong working knowledge of IFRS 17 Experience in a technical accounting or financial reporting function, ideally within a UK-listed insurance business Alternatively, experience within a Big 4 advisory role focused on IFRS 17 Proven ability to interpret complex financial arrangements and develop accounting solutions under tight deadlines The role is being recruited on a hybrid basis with just one day a week required in the Sussex office.
