Tax - Tax Reporting Graduate Trainee – Glasgow (start date 1 September 2026). Forvis Mazars is a leading global professional services network providing audit & assurance, tax, and advisory services. This role is part of the national tax team and focuses on VAT compliance and advisory services for a range of clients.
About The Tax Reporting Team
The Tax Reporting team focuses on a broad range of corporate clients, meeting their tax advisory and compliance needs in a fast-changing environment with evolving legislation in the UK and overseas. Our corporate clients range from listed multinationals and large entrepreneurial businesses to domestic owner-managed businesses.
About The Role
As a graduate trainee you will undergo a three-year training contract. You will support the team in delivering high-quality compliance and advisory VAT services to clients across sectors, including multinational businesses, international and UK-listed and private companies, central and local government, not-for-profit organisations, and financial institutions.
During Your First Two Years
* Support the provision of high-quality VAT compliance on a portfolio of clients.
* Research VAT technical questions and background information to support advisory work.
* Assist the senior VAT team to develop business and seek new fee-earning opportunities.
* Support the VAT team with preparation of VAT return calculations.
* Be involved in written and verbal communications with HMRC.
* Communicate with the VAT team on issues or findings.
* Develop and apply technical knowledge from studies and on‑the‑job experience.
* Present to internal/external audiences on relevant VAT topics.
By the End of Year Three
* Manage a portfolio of clients and act as a main point of contact, liaising with other advisors.
* Develop the VAT service offering and assist on a wide range of projects and sectors.
* Support senior management in developing business and seeking new opportunities.
* Advise clients and partners about VAT changes to legislation and practice.
* Ensure the successful delivery of VAT projects with technical excellence and a practical approach.
* Liaise and negotiate with HMRC on behalf of clients.
* Proactively manage existing clients to identify and win new work.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships and provide high levels of service.

Fully funded professional qualification for this role: ATT/CTA. The programme includes coaching, mentorship, time off to study, and a blended training approach (in-person and virtual).
