Our Organisation
Part of East Lancashire Learning Group, Accrington and Rossendale College has a proud history of delivering high quality vocational courses and technical training, apprenticeships and higher education provision to the communities that we serve. We excel in providing people with a platform to progress into fantastic employment opportunities.
The Exciting Role
A new and exciting opportunity is available for a Lecturer in Maths. Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of mathematicians? Do you have a flair for making complex concepts accessible and engaging? If so, we want YOU!
You will be part of a highly successful team of dedicated Maths staff delivering GCSE and Functional Skills Maths at Accrington and Rossendale College, inspiring students to achieve their best.
All Maths teachers are well‑qualified and have expert knowledge of the subject and we invest in their ongoing professional development. You will join a team of innovative subject experts who achieve remarkable results—students who resit their GCSEs at the college are more than twice as likely to achieve Grade 4‑9 than the National Average.
What We Are Looking For:
* Experience of teaching maths within a Further Education, Apprenticeship or Secondary setting
* Teaching qualification
* Degree in Maths or associated subject—or alternative degree with A Level Maths
* Excellent communication skills
* Passion for the subject and ability to inspire and motivate
* Highly organised and conscientious approach
What You Will Be Doing:
Involved in every aspect of course planning, including developing schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources. Build strong relationships with learners, improving student retention, attendance, and success rates, and shape the curriculum to best meet student needs.
What We Offer in Return:
* Eligibility to join the Teachers' Pension Scheme
* Generous annual leave allowance, including a two‑week closure over the Christmas period
* Enhanced occupational sick pay scheme and family‑friendly policies and benefits
* Health and wellbeing benefits and support
* Staff recognition scheme, including long‑service awards
* Free on‑site parking on all college sites
Additional Incentives:
* If you are new to FE or in the first five years of your FE teaching career, you may be eligible for a targeted retention incentive payment of up to £6,000.00.
* If you are not eligible for the above, you may be eligible for a £2,500 “golden hello” payment (if you aren’t otherwise eligible for government incentive schemes).
