The Design and Technical teams are involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation. They are responsible for researching the best materials at the most cost-effective prices.
Considering the variety of sites, many utilizing existing buildings, the team faces unique challenges. The focus also includes exploring new materials, sustainability, and complying with evolving building and environmental legislation.
Most team members have backgrounds in architecture or engineering. The team offers opportunities to gain expertise in design and project management within a stimulating environment.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager or Technical Director, the role involves overseeing the design of infrastructure and groundwork packages for residential developments.
You will be expected to:
* Procure service records and enquiries for new developments, ensuring timely payments for infrastructure supporting build programs.
* Oversee design and detailing by external Consulting Engineers for external works, including foundation solutions, estate roads, and sewers, with relevant agreements (Section 38, 104, S278).
* Secure adoption agreements (S38, S104, S278) promptly to align with development schedules, and manage bonds accordingly.
* Contribute to securing structural designs for superstructure components.
* Maintain ongoing evaluation and peer review of consultants’ designs to ensure compliance with best practices, value engineering, and statutory requirements.
* Liaise with other technical team members and relevant parties to discharge building regulations and planning conditions.
To succeed, candidates should have:
* HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
* Experience in a design environment, preferably with Civil or Structural Consulting Engineers.
* Strong negotiation skills with external bodies like sewerage undertakers and highway authorities.
* Ability to coordinate with the design team to meet project timelines.
* Proficiency in design software such as Autodesk products; experience with PDS or MicroDrainage is desirable but not essential.
