Summary
Join the Environment Agency to support the development and publication of Best Available Techniques (BAT) for Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (LVIC) installations. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and publishing UK-wide environmental standards for industry, ensuring compliance with UK and EU environmental legislation.
Key Responsibilities
* Draft BAT conclusions and final documents for publication as new UK-wide environmental standards.
* Liaise with Technical Working Groups and present findings to stakeholders.
* Critically analyse technical arguments and data, ensuring evidence‑led decisions.
* Write and manage technical documents, coordinating project timelines.
* Support incident‑management objectives and participate in incident‑role training.
* Travel to sites and meetings as required; overnight stays may be necessary.
Required Experience & Skills
* Minimum five years of working experience in the LVIC industry with a solid understanding of environmental regulation.
* Strong knowledge of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, notably the IED and Environmental Permitting Regulations.
* Expertise in collecting and technically analysing complex industrial data.
* Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
* Project‑management skills: planning, prioritising, and organising tasks and resources to meet deadlines.
* Adaptability to respond flexibly to challenges and build consensus.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams and promote inclusion.

* Contract: up to 2 years from appointment.
* Employment type: Full‑time.
* Seniority level: Mid‑senior level.
* Location: Rotherham, UK (or specify other locations as applicable).
