Role Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Writer a talented features and analysis journalist capable of producing high‑quality, accurate and authoritative content to tight deadlines.
You will be equally confident writing rapid-turnaround analysis pieces and long-form, in‑depth features. The role requires strong sector awareness, an ability to build a broad network of contacts, and a deep interest in the issues shaping education and public policy.
You’ll frequently work with policy documents, political briefings, data trends and research to ensure our audience receives timely, reliable and insightful journalism. Research literacy is highly valued, particularly across fields such as cognitive science, sociology, anthropology and education studies.
This is an ideal role for a journalist passionate about public policy and education, with experience producing a range of content for B2B or national audiences.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce high‑quality features, analysis and long‑form content to tight deadlines
* Research and interpret complex documents, including policy papers, academic studies and political statements
* Build and maintain a strong contacts network within the education sector
* Generate original story ideas tailored to the needs of school leaders and educators
* Create a variety of content formats, including investigations, data‑driven pieces and profile interviews
* Identify sector trends and uncover stories that matter most to schools
* Work at speed to deliver clear, accurate and actionable information to our readership
What You’ll Need to Succeed
* Proven experience as a features and/or analysis journalist
* Excellent writing, editing and research skills
* Ability to communicate complex information clearly and confidently
* Strong interest in education, public policy and evidence‑based journalism
* Ability to develop impactful story ideas and choose the right format for each piece
* Experience writing for a B2B or national audience (desirable)
* Research literacy across multiple disciplines (desirable)
