Senior Scientist – Cyber AI / Machine Learning Research
Location: Newport, Wales (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Contract: 12 months (strong likelihood of extension)
Rate: £50 per hour (Umbrella)

Clearance: BPSS (must be eligible)
The Opportunity
We are supporting a defence organisation at the forefront of cyber security research and innovation, seeking a Senior Scientist with strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning applied to cyber security.
This is a research-led role, focused on the security of AI/ML systems, exploring emerging threats, developing novel approaches, and shaping future cyber capability. You will work in an environment where problems are genuinely complex and often have no off-the-shelf solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
1. Conducting hands-on AI / ML research in cyber security, with particular focus on the security of AI/ML systems
2. Designing and prototyping innovative solutions to emerging cyber threats
3. Translating research into practical outputs, including prototypes, reports, white papers and technical documentation
4. Collaborating with internal cyber teams, industry partners and academic institutions
