We are looking for a reliable Donations Volunteers to assist with collecting, distributing, storing and organising the donations we receive for our refuges throughout the year. This is a new role which we hope will not only allow us to use donations more effectively but also help free up staff time allowing them to focus their efforts on working directly with clients.
Ideally you will be well-organised with a keen eye for spotting the best quality donations Whilst many donations are items such as toiletries, toys and clothing, there are occasional furniture donations so any volunteers will need to be physically fit and strong. Access to a vehicle and a full driving licence is a must.
Tasks will include:
* Collecting donated items from various locations around Northamptonshire – we envisage each volunteer covering an agreed area that's suitable for them.
* Delivering donated items to various refuges around the county.
* Assisting staff in organising the donated items which can range from toiletries to toys to furniture at the relevant storage site.
* Be available to assist at key times of the year e.g. Easter and Christmas when donations increase
* Assist with removing any items that are out of date, no longer required or damaged.
The role will be ad-hoc with regards to availability, but we would ask for no more than 2 hours of your time per week - however there may be weeks when there are no tasks to perform. We do request that you can be available at some point from Monday – Friday between 9am and 4pm as this is when staff will be available to assist. With refuges across the county, we envisage dividing the geographical areas to avoid too much travel for an individual volunteer.
