Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Weston, MA (Hybrid)
Job Type: Full-Time
Travel: Up to 20%
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Project Engineer to support our growing portfolio of anaerobic digestion and renewable energy projects. This role will work closely with the construction, procurement, and commissioning teams to ensure quality control and successful execution across all engineering deliverables during the construction phase. The ideal candidate brings a mix of engineering oversight, cross-functional coordination, and technical problem-solving in dynamic, field-facing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and review Issued for Bid (IFB) drawing sets and technical packages for distribution to General Contractors/Design Builders.
* Review technical submittals from vendors and coordinate feedback and approvals from internal stakeholders.
* Analyze change requests from technology or system providers and facilitate clear communication to the broader project team.
* Participate in weekly project meetings to provide updates on engineering and technology deliverables.
* Develop standardized engineering solutions and templates for internal use.
* Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and site visits to assess vendor progress and ensure technical compliance.
* Collaborate with Balance of Plant and Agricultural Engineers to effectively communicate project specifications and requirements to contractors.
* Coordinate with Process and Commissioning Engineers to ensure control system integration aligns with operational expectations.
* Collect and organize key documentation from vendors, including O&M manuals, installation drawings, process documents, and instrumentation diagrams.
* Maintain document control throughout design, construction, and pre-commissioning stages; transfer complete packages to commissioning upon dry or cold commissioning.
* Provide timely technical clarifications to construction teams when documentation lacks detail.
* Support procurement decisions by coordinating with Process Engineers post-bid evaluations.
* Manage submittal reviews, RFIs, and external engineering/design consultants as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or Geotechnical preferred).
* 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience in areas such as project engineering, design, construction management, or project oversight.
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with root cause analysis.
* Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to work effectively across remote teams and field personnel.
* Self-motivated and adaptable, with a collaborative “team-first” mindset.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects with minimal supervision.
* Experience in renewable energy, anaerobic digestion, water/wastewater, or infrastructure projects is a plus.
* Professional certifications such as PE, MBA, or PMP are desirable.
* Demonstrated success in evaluating equipment and materials and solving operational challenges.
* Hybrid work model based out of Weston, MA office.
* Must be able to travel up to 20%, including site visits and vendor assessments.
* Occasional lifting, walking through construction areas, and onsite collaboration required.
