Position: Operations Manager
* Location: Manchester Office, M90 5UX, Manchester Airport
* Shift Pattern: Mon - Fri, 50 hours per week
* Hours: 08:00 - 18:00 (may vary slightly)
* Salary: £40,000-45,000 per year
* Reports to: Operations Director
Main Duties
* Ensure effective and profitable vehicle operations.
* Supervise drivers and office team daily.
* Cover resourcing issues as needed.
* Manage job allocations respecting Working Time Directive/driver hours.
* Be a main contact for staff during shifts.
* Ensure jobs are priced, completed, invoiced.
* Liaise with drivers and customers regarding delays/issues.
* Update relevant spreadsheets to reflect service standards.
* Handle calls and requests from internal/external customers.
* Provide leadership, mentorship, and foster team spirit.
* Monitor subcontractors and agencies to stay within budget.
* Oversee daily task completion across all areas.
* Maintain high customer care and administrative standards.
* Supervise/manage staff effectively.
* Practical knowledge of Drivers Hours and logistics industry.
* Manage own time, planning, and performance.
* Promote company values, develop long-term relationships.
Requirements
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), strong telephone manner.
* Attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to prioritize.
* Experience in a similar supervisory/managerial role preferred.
* Proficient IT skills, ability to learn procedures, implement/write new procedures.
* Positive attitude, strong people and management skills.
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload daily.
