The AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of infrastructure projects and combines the best in project management and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors. We have an exciting vacancy for a Project Manager to join our Defence Infrastructure market, based in our Epsom office. The role offers the chance to develop your career across a wide range of challenging projects, combining agile work at the office with time at client sites.
Responsibilities
* Delivery of project management and contract administration through the project life cycle.
* Ensure a common understanding of requirements, scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk, and interfaces across the team.
* Identify and agree project objectives with the Project Director, developing a strategy for achieving these.
* Escalate and manage any matters that could pose a potential contractual or commercial risk.
* Lead and motivate the project team, maintaining, coaching, and guiding team members while liaising and engaging with clients on a project‑by‑project basis.
* Deliver governance arrangements for projects within corporate and business policies, ensuring safety is prioritised throughout delivery.
* Manage risk, opportunity, and mitigation measures for the project; administer and negotiate change control from inception to completion.
* Monitor and report project performance against programme, technical quality, financial and KPI targets; drive delivery in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Values – Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, and Innovation.
Qualifications
* Background in Project Management, Engineering, Building Surveying, or Architecture, with experience in design management, project management, and contract administration.
* Chartered with the APM or an equivalent professional Engineering qualification or chartership.
* Hard‑working, flexible, team player with strong attention to detail, reliability, proactivity, and initiative.
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to manage and motivate a team, demonstrating good leadership and customer‑focused client relationship management.
* Experience across a range of construction projects, particularly Defence, leading from inception to completion (RIBA Stages 0 – 7 or equivalent).
* Clear understanding and experience of construction contracts, particularly NEC3; prepared Scope Definition papers, Project Execution Plans, Risk Registers, Change Control Logs, and Client & Stakeholder Management plans.
* Experience managing design projects to time, cost and quality objectives, familiar with programming and earned value techniques.
* Familiar with BIM modelling tools for design and coordination purposes; supportive and encouraging mentoring approach.
* Adaptable to different working environments, building rapport with clients, and available to travel across the UK.
* Holds a valid UK driving licence and is able to travel to sites across the United Kingdom.
Security Clearance
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of five years or longer.
